Wonder Stories 'The Time Express' Cover — Gernsback's Time-Sphere, December 1932
A colossal blue-and-gold spherical time vessel hovers menacingly above a gleaming Art Deco spire, disgorging golden-suited passengers who tumble freely through the air as crowds throng the tower's observation decks below. The time express has just arrived — or is it departing? — as futuristic figures on the ground gaze upward in wonder and alarm. The vivid orange sky crackles with energy, and a searchlight beam sweeps dramatically from the tower's pinnacle, anchoring this breathtaking vision of temporal mass transit.
OH BUDDY — a giant studded time-ball spitting out people like a cosmic gumball machine over an Art Deco lighthouse? This is peak Gernsback insanity and I would absolutely frame this above my fireplace. Frank R. Paul was operating on a completely different frequency from the rest of humanity in 1932.
