Fantastic Adventures Sept 1939 – Ray Gun Showdown in Undersea Lab

A dashing hero lunges forward through a glowing doorway, ray gun blazing, as a helmeted villain below returns fire with his own energy pistol — caught in a desperate standoff inside a gleaming undersea laboratory. Bound to a cylindrical column in a crimson gown, a captive woman watches the firefight with wide, terrified eyes. Strange glowing apparatus and towering metallic tubes fill the cavernous chamber, evoking Nat Schachner's 'City Under the Sea' featured within.

Oh buddy, this one has EVERYTHING — ray guns crossing beams, a bound damsel in a slinky red number, and an undersea lair glowing like a fever dream! H.W. McAuley was absolutely cooking with gas on this inaugural run of Fantastic Adventures and I cannot believe I found this in a cardboard box for fifty cents!
