Weird Tales March 1925 — Hunter vs. Primitive Spearman, 'Last of the Teeheemen'
Surprisingly restrained for a pulp cover, this 1925 Weird Tales illustration forgoes tentacled monsters in favor of a tense lost-world confrontation: a red-shirted explorer in a pith helmet takes aim with a rifle at a gaunt, spear-wielding primitive lurking among rocky crags, while a scantily clad dark-haired woman stands nervously at his side. The muted earth tones punctuated by bold red create a cinematic tension that predates similar adventure imagery by decades. Signed by Andrew Brosnatch.
A hero in a red shirt shooting at a gaunt caveman while a woman watches — competent pulp melodrama, though the magazine called itself 'The Unique Magazine' and then delivered something your uncle might call a Saturday matinee. Points awarded for the spear.
