this page is the agreement between the visitor and the operators of oona13.com/timeclock ("the site," "we," "us"). by visiting the page or pressing the boost button, the visitor ("you") agrees to all of the below.

the universe-ending dilemma clause

the site searches the 2¹⁶⁰-key space for the private key to a bitcoin address with no known holder. the expected time to succeed is, in the language of physics, indistinguishable from never. nevertheless:

1. if a key is unlocked — through any combination of the site's server heartbeat, your browser's contribution while boosting, or any other participant's contribution — you irrevocably relinquish all claim to the bitcoin associated with that key, to the address derived from it, or to any other digital asset that the key would otherwise unlock.
2. the site and its owners may, at their sole discretion, distribute any undisputed amounts arising from such an event to participants, to third parties, to charity, to the wind, or to no one at all. there is no entitlement, no fiduciary duty, and no obligation of distribution implied by your participation.
3. you waive any and all claims, in any jurisdiction, against the site, its operators, its hosts, and its participants, arising from the discovery, non-discovery, distribution, or non-distribution of any bitcoin associated with the search.

no warranty, no advice

the site is provided as-is. nothing on it is financial, legal, or cryptographic advice. the cryptography is real and honest, but the search is, for all reasonable purposes, an aesthetic object — a clock — and should be treated as one. you should not boost it on a machine you are not comfortable running continuously, nor on a metered connection without considering the minor bandwidth used by progress reports.

privacy

the site stores aggregate progress counters (total tries, best leading-zero count) and the IP / user-agent of any verified win, for the sole purpose of distinguishing a real cryptographic event from a hoax. no personally identifying information is collected from the boost button or page view beyond standard web-server access logs.

changes

we may update these terms at any time. the dated version live at this URL is the version that governs your use as of that visit.
