Spacesuited Artist Paints Alien Landscape – Galaxy Science Fiction June 1957

Depicting the concept of interplanetary artistic exploration, a lone astronaut in a red pressure suit stands before an easel on a barren alien world, painting the dramatic landscape before him. Jagged crystalline mountains rise against a star-filled black sky bisected by vivid rainbow-colored energy bands or planetary rings. A small rocket rests nearby on the ochre terrain. The image celebrates scientific achievement meeting human creativity — art-making as a frontier activity on alien worlds.

It's pretty cool seeing a spaceman painting on another planet, but I was hoping for a rocket battle or some bug-eyed monsters. Still, those rainbow sky beams are wild and the pointy mountains look really eerie!
